1. To do and see around Itaipuaçu
The mountain is 412 meters high, and once you reach the top, you are rewarded with a 360-degree view of the beaches of Itaipuaçu among other things. The walking tour of two kilometers through the Parque Estadual da Serra da Tiririca takes one and a half to two hours.
The park is easiest to get to by taxi from Niterói. None other than Charles Darwin did research there in 1832. His discoveries in the nature reserve have, according to legend, contributed to his theory of evolution.

The fishing village of Itaipuaçu lies at the base of the mountain Morro do Elefante. If you would like to escape the turmoil of Rio de Janeiro for a little while, you have come to the right place.
The mountain, in combination with the vast beaches and the tropical vegetation, is breathtaking. You immediately realize that you really are in the tropics, something you might tend to forget in cities like São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
2. Eat and drink in Itaipuaçu
Order an aqua de coco and a serving of bolinhos de bacalhau in the local beach pavilion for the ultimate carefree sensation.
3. Transport to Itaipuaçu
The park is easiest to reach by taxi from Niteroi.
